Hello everyone!
I got an email from a sister who was contacted by a boyfriend of one of her chapter's alumnae. Here's his message:
> This may be a long shot but its worth a try. ** years ago I met
> and fell in love with a Texas KD. I met her after she graduated and
> after three of the best years of my life I am going to ask her to
> marry me. I know how dear she holds both the University of Texas and
> her affiliation with Kappa Delta so I was hoping to make this even
> more special. Are there any traditions or ways that I may incorporate
> either UT or KD into my proposal? I know that this would only help
> make a very special occasion even more memorable.
So if you have any ideas, please email them to me. And, though I'm going to FWD them, let me know if I can add them to my KD Wedding Tradition page at http://kdonliner.tripod.com/files/wedding.html
Anyway, I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving...! :)
AOT,
Annie

Raleigh/Durham AA Christmas Party
Friday, December 5, 7:00pm
Please e-mail Misty Clymer, mdcnc@hotmail.com, for location information
Can you believe that it is that time of year again? Christmas shopping,
family gatherings and of course HOLIDAY PARTIES!!!!!! Bring your spouse, or
significant other and children as we celebrate this special time of the
year! This is a "pot luck" dinner, so please bring a food dish.
Since we have all been so blessed, we want to share the joy of the holiday
season with others. We are "adopting" a few children from sister Jessica
Hord's workplace - Institute for Family Centered Services. When you RSVP
please note what you will be bringing (gift for what child, or food basket
for the family) so we can evenly disperse our gifts.
Our Children:
15 year old female: Pant size- 5/6 Blouse size- M/L Underwear size- 6 Socks-
9-11 Sleepwear- Medium * she likes horses, makeup, and CD’s*
14 year old male: Shirt size-large *he likes CDs, hair gel, and music*
10 year old female: *she likes 500 to 1000 piece puzzles*
10 year old male: *he likes Pokemon and VeyBlades toys (available at
Wal-Mart)
Any age appropriate toys or games would be great, as would food baskets for
any of these kids and their families. The details above are just some things
that these kids like. Also, hats, gloves, and scarves for each are another
idea! If anyone wants to bring food (nonperishable) Jessica can take care of
organizing it to meet the needs of the families. Also, if the gifts are
wrapped, please put a sticky note or a tag on it that says what age child it
is for and a description of the item. The toys or clothes will be given to
the parents, so that they can be the one to give it to their children on
Christmas. We do it this way so that the parents are empowered to give their
children the gifts from them or from “Santa”! This takes a lot of the stigma
off of the family (especially for the kids), and adds to the enjoyment for
the parents so that their children can see them as the capable parents they
are! Of course, the parents will know where the gifts have come from.
Thank you to Tricia McDonnell and her parents for hosting this event for us!
We hope to see you all there! Happy Holidays!

Hello Kappa Delta's across the nation! I would like to pass this on in hopes that you can help me spread the word. I am involved in the planning stages of St. Louis, MO's largest American Cancer Society Relay For Life event. You don't have to be from St. Louis to participate in this part of the Relay - we are just trying to celebrate our survivors and bring encouragement through this project. Please read below and pass on to anyone you know who has been affacted by this terrible disease. If you have any questions please contact me at kristenhornberger@hotmail.com
Thank you.
AOT, Kristen Hornberger
Epsilon Iota/University of Missouri-Columbia
We need YOU to help us put together a booklet to be called the ABC's of
Cancer. The booklet will be written for (New-first time) survivors by (Old
and not-so-old - been through it before SURVIVORS). We are asking that you
give us a word that begins with any letter of the alphabet that helps
describe your bout with cancer.
(A - Alive, B - Blue feelings or B - Blessing, C - Cure.....you get the
idea). Please feel free to write a short story to go with your word. No
feeling is too insignificant to be expressed. We never know how one word
of encouragement may inspire others to fight, try harder and win their battle.
Please send your word(s) and story(ies) to Lucia Patterson, (please email kristenhornberger@hotmail.com for the address) no later than February 1, 2004. (The
coordination and printing process takes us a while!) Tell us how long you
have been a survivor and what type of cancer you had. We would like to
have them available for sale at the North County Relay, and are hoping that
many oncologists offices, as well as hospitals, will purchase lots of
copies. And of course, the profits from the sales of the ABC's of cancer
will go to the American Cancer Society to help aid in the quest to find the Cure.
Thank you for your word(s) of encouragement.
My letter is ___________. This stands for
__________________________ and here is my story:
Please pass this on to anyone you know that would want to be part of this
great event.
