Hello..!
Wow, I got a lot of notes in this week - I'll get to them in a second! But first, i wanted to mention - did anyone else out there happen to catch "Frat Boys" - the History Channel's documentary on fraternities? Despite the terrible name, the show was pretty good - definitely worth watching! It'll be on again on Saturday, Sept. 6 @ 10am ET/PT.
See you next week!
AOT,
Annie

Hello all-
Just wanted to throw my hat into the ring so to speak. I am exploring the job market and am looking for some sisterly help.
I am looking for a position in event planning (preferable) but am open to marketing, public relations, or meeting/conference planning as well. (I have experience in all these areas)
If anyone knows of anything that might be available, or even someone who might be willing to be contacted as a resource/mentor, I would love to hear from you.
I am looking to stay in the Baltimore/Washington DC area (where I live now) or possibly relocate to New York City.
AOT and Thanks!

SEPTEMBER 11TH HERO'S FOUNDATION PLANNING
"TEA ACROSS AMERICA"
Vero Beach, Florida - On September 11th and September 14th a special tea party will take place at Hibiscus Coffee & Tea. This tea is part of a larger event called "Tea Across America," Tea Across America is being coordinated by The Shelley A. Marshall Foundation, established in honor of Shelley Marshall, who was killed at the Pentagon on September 11th. The foundation is helping to organize a national tea party with tea societies and tea shops across the country. The foundation's mission is to "inspire and enrich the spirit and have a direct impact on people's lives. Shelley loved tea and tea parties, so, as part of its regular programs, the Foundation has hosted 15 tea parties at 5 nursing homes, in 3 states, for more than 850 seniors and high school students.
Hibiscus Coffee & Tea is participating in Tea Across America by having a tea at the café and asking guests and customers to donate a cup and saucer or other tea related china piece to the Shelley A. Marshall Foundation. These china pieces will be used at the nursing homes where the foundation regularly holds their events. Hibiscus Coffee & Tea has plans to host their own nursing home event in 2004.
Tea Across America will offer Americans the opportunity to confront the evil of September 11th the same way the Shelley A. Marshall Foundation has: with compassion and a cup of tea. Tickets for the Hibiscus Coffee and Tea Party are $25.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under. They should be purchased in advance. China pieces can be donated during regular business hours or the days of the tea parties. Individuals, organizations, and businesses interested in participating are encouraged to pick up more information at Hibiscus Coffee & Tea, 2205 14th Avenue in Vero Beach. Hibiscus Coffee & Tea is open Monday -Friday from 6:00am to 5:00pm and Saturdays 7:00am-3:00pm. They are usually closed on Sunday but will be open September 14th for the tea party.
The Shelley A. Marshall Foundation began the day after authorities confirmed that Shelley had perished in the terrorist attack on the Pentagon. On that day a grief counselor told Donn Marshall four words that changed the direction of his life: "Give your sorrow meaning." Within days he established the foundation, placing Shelley's retirement savings and the donations of well-wishers in an irrevocable trust to fund activities that mirror her interests in reading to her children, creative writing, and tea. To date, the Foundation has sponsored 42 children's story hours at public libraries, reaching more than 2,200 children and parents; endowed twelve creative writing contests at colleges and high schools, sparking the creativity of more than 200 young people; and hosted 15 intergenerational tea parties at nursing homes, touching more than 850 seniors and high school students.
For more information on the Foundation, please visit www.shelleysfoundation.org.
