April 12, 2005

Hey there..

I know this is short notice, but if you're planning on attending the 2005 KD Convention in Washington DC, early registration is due this Friday. For more details, visit http://www.kappadelta.org/Events/Convention.htm.

On a "net safety" note, I'd like to post the following message once again, to remind you all about watching what you email out.  In the next issue, I'll discuss some other net safety issues that everyone should be aware..

A lot of us have posted a great deal of information in internet messages and "sigs" (signature files that appear at the bottom of many of our messages). We should all take precautions with the information that we publish on the internet.  One way to do this is to think about the way we forward emails.  Whether it's protecting us from spammers or possible stalkers, we should all follow this advice:

1. REMOVE all email addresses that were forwarded or sent to you on the
message. Use the delete key, or the editing functions on your email program
after you hit the Forward key.

2. DO NOT use the TO field to send the mail on. USE the BCC field. This
means "Blind Carbon Copy". It will list only the name of each individual
receiver on the email. NOBODY ELSE'S email address will be shown.

TO USE BCC: Simply click BCC instead of TO. It works just the same. If you
add names from your address book, just add them to the BCC field instead of
the TO field.  (AOL users, just put all the email addresses within parentheses.)

As an added bonus of using this feature, your email message won't have
all those addresses at the beginning. No one will have to scroll through
the addresses to get to the message that you have sent.

Have a great week!

AOT,

Annie

From the Alumnae Relations of the Zeta Xi Chapter at
Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida:

Many of the Zeta Xi sisters have expressed interest in
contacting KD alumnae (particularly those in the
Central Florida area) who may be able to provide
information or offer job shadow, internship or job
opportunities in the upcoming summer months or
following school year at their work places. We have
sisters in a variety of majors and would love to get
some quality field experience.  If any alumnae would
be interested in providing information for a fellow
sister to contact, please email the Zeta Xi Alumnae
Relations Chair at kdzetaxi@yahoo.com
Thank you!

Hi Central Florida KD's!

I'm looking for anyone that has contacts with a Central Florida home builder.  My boyfriend is moving here from upstate NY this spring and is looking for a job in land development.  He currently works in the land department for a large natural gas company, and really wants to change industries.  He's a FSU and Sigma Pi alum.  If anyone can help us -- even if it's to chat with him on the phone or give some helpful hints -- I'd be so grateful!

Thanks!
Love in AOT-

Annie, I found this poem on the internet and thought you might want it for your newsletter.

Sororities are about laughter, tears, friendship,
sisterhood, honor, loyalty and love.
The people in my sorority want me to succeed.
They help me learn to rise up and allow others to follow.
At retreats we share in times that we will remember forever.
Homecoming, Socials, Parents weekend, and other Greek
activities have given me the opportunity to find out what is unique
about each sorority, and I really find wonderful friends among them all.
