Well, I've heard through the grapevine that Beta Pi had an incredible recruitment!  I'm still waiting for the official report <hint hint>, but you can read about some of the excitement in an Alligator article, posted here, where a KD New Member is interviewed: http://www.alligator.org/edit/news/issues/stories/030826sorority.html
Congratulations, Beta Pi!
by the way, the UCF KD chapter (Epsilon Omicron) also reached their quota, which was 69.

Did anyone else out there happen to catch "Frat Boys" - the History Channel's documentary on fraternities?  Despite the terrible name, the show was pretty good - definitely worth watching!  It'll be on again on Saturday, Sept. 6 @ 10am ET/PT.

Speaking of TV, our Gators play the Hurricanes this Saturday night on ABC. Even though we're the underdogs, it's an exciting rivalry!
GO GATORS!! -=;==;<

Have a great week...
AOT,
Annie :)

I just wanted to announce that on Sunday, August 3, I married the love of my life and best friend, Steve Cunningham, at Birkhill Castle in Scotland!  The Earl and Countess of Dundee opened their family home to us, and our wedding, which took place in the rose garden, was like a fairy tale.  The ceremony was very intimate with just our parents, my sister and her husband and son, and personal with original vows and Neruda poetry.

We feel so lucky and blessed to have this amazing relationship that began as a friendship between our families. (Some of you may remember him as my next door neighbor in high school, my "sushi buddy" in college or the son of the family we always went sking with over spring break.)  Our parents, needless to say, have been delighted since we began dating two years ago.

I know that I have lost touch with so many of my sisters, but think of you often.  If you're in town - please feel free to join us in Denver on Saturday, September 27 and/or in Orange Park, FL on Friday, November 28 for one or both of our casual celebrations.  Pictures from the wedding and celebration information can be found at the website Steve is building (he's a robotics engineer so we're both nerds!) www.geocities.com/stevetrave

Thanks to Annie, especially, for taking the time to keep all of us connected and up-to-date on each other's life moments.

Love in AOT,
Kimberly (Weatherington) Cunningham

My sisters Judy Graves and Jeane Graves Bartlett (They were Tri Delts at U of F) and I own this cafe in Vero Beach as well as the Cafe at McKee Botanical Gardens.  We are hoping to get people all over to participate in our event and the other Tea Across America events.  We have one of the Girl Scout troops helping us at our Sunday Tea and The Youth Volunteer Corps participating also.

SEPTEMBER 11TH HERO'S FOUNDATION PLANNING
"TEA ACROSS AMERICA"

Vero Beach, Florida - On September 11th and September 14th a special tea party will take place at Hibiscus Coffee & Tea.  This tea is part of a larger event called "Tea Across America,"  Tea Across America is being coordinated by The Shelley A. Marshall Foundation, established in honor of Shelley Marshall, who was killed at the Pentagon on September 11th.  The foundation is helping to organize a national tea party with tea societies and tea shops across the country. The foundation's mission is to "inspire and enrich the spirit and have a direct impact on people's lives. Shelley loved tea and tea parties, so, as part of its regular programs, the Foundation has hosted 15 tea parties at 5 nursing homes, in 3 states, for more than 850 seniors and high school students.

Hibiscus Coffee & Tea is participating in Tea Across America by having a tea at the café and asking guests and customers to donate a cup and saucer or other tea related china piece to the Shelley A. Marshall Foundation. These china pieces will be used at the nursing homes where the foundation regularly holds their events.  Hibiscus Coffee & Tea has plans to host their own nursing home event in 2004.

Tea Across America will offer Americans the opportunity to confront the evil of September 11th the same way the Shelley A. Marshall Foundation has:  with compassion and a cup of tea. Tickets for the Hibiscus Coffee and Tea Party are $25.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under. They should be purchased in advance.  China pieces can be donated during regular business hours or the days of the tea parties.  Individuals, organizations, and businesses interested in participating are encouraged to pick up more information at Hibiscus Coffee & Tea, 2205 14th Avenue in Vero Beach.  Hibiscus Coffee & Tea is open Monday -Friday from 6:00am to 5:00pm and Saturdays 7:00am-3:00pm.  They are usually closed on Sunday but will be open September 14th for the tea party.

The Shelley A. Marshall Foundation began the day after authorities confirmed that Shelley had perished in the terrorist attack on the Pentagon.  On that day a grief counselor told Donn Marshall four words that changed the direction of his life:  "Give your sorrow meaning."  Within days he established the foundation, placing Shelley's retirement savings and the donations of well-wishers in an irrevocable trust to fund activities that mirror her interests in reading to her children, creative writing, and tea.  To date, the Foundation has sponsored 42 children's story hours at public libraries, reaching more than 2,200 children and parents; endowed twelve creative writing contests at colleges and high schools, sparking the creativity of more than 200 young people; and hosted 15 intergenerational tea parties at nursing homes, touching more than 850 seniors and high school students.
